One of the most consistent questions we get about single-payer reform is how it will affect people’s income. There is understandable concern from financially overstretched Americans about how improved Medicare for All would impact their ability to pay rent and put food on the table.

We all know that single payer would be a financial boon for the vast majority of Americans, but now Medicare-for-All advocates have a new tool to show individuals and families exactly how much they could save. Our allies at Healthy California Now have teamed up with the National Union of Healthcare Workers and UCSF Professor (and PNHP-CA leader) Dr. James G. Kahn to create a calculator that quickly estimates how much Californians could save when our state finally passes a universal, truly public, health program.
